Support

If something isn't working, or you'd just like to know how something works, write to us and a person will write back.

Email support@slatewisestudio.com. A person reads every message. It helps to say which app you're using, what you typed or chose, and what you expected to happen; please don't attach pay stubs or other sensitive documents, since describing the problem is enough. Privacy requests, such as asking us to delete a purchase record, go to privacy@slatewisestudio.com.

Subscriptions and purchases

How do I cancel a subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple rather than inside the app. On your iPhone, open Settings, choose your name, then Subscriptions, and pick the one you'd like to cancel. Deleting the app doesn't cancel it, and Apple has its own guide to cancelling if you get stuck.

How do I get a refund?

Apple handles payments, so refunds are requested from Apple, which makes the decision. Their page on requesting a refund walks through it.

I've paid, but the app still shows the free version.

Open the app's upgrade screen, or in SiteCalc its Settings, and choose Restore purchases while signed in to the same Apple Account you bought with. If that doesn't bring it back, write to us with the app's name and the order ID from your Apple receipt, and we'll look into it.

Paycheck Check

How does the free version work out overtime?

It follows the federal rule: hours past 40 in your workweek are paid at time and a half. You choose the day your workweek starts, so the week matches the one your employer uses.

My state pays daily overtime. Is that covered?

Premium includes daily overtime, double time and seventh-day rules for California, Alaska and Colorado, each shown with the law it comes from. Nevada is included as well, marked as not fully verified with the reason shown. Every value can be edited, and you can set up your own rule for anywhere else.

My total doesn't match my pay stub.

It's worth checking the settings first: the start day of your workweek, your rate, any unpaid breaks, and which overtime rule the job uses. Premium's paycheck check lets you type in what your stub says and shows, line by line, where the difference comes from. If the numbers still look wrong, write to us with the shifts you entered and what you expected, and we'll go through the math with you. The app gives estimates, so for a real dispute your employer or your state labor office is the place to take it.

How do I move my hours to a new iPhone?

Your hours are included in your iPhone's backup. Restoring an iCloud or computer backup onto the new iPhone brings them across with everything else.

I forgot to clock out.

Open the entry and change its end time; totals and pay recalculate straight away. Premium's shift reminders include a "still clocked in?" check for exactly this.

SiteCalc

Where do the numbers come from?

Every bag yield, block count and weight comes from a manufacturer's data sheet or a standards body, and the app cites each one. Choose Show formula under any result to see the working, or open Where the numbers come from on the home screen for the full list of sources.

Why does gravel ask for my supplier's weight?

Loose stone weighs different amounts depending on the quarry, the size and how wet it is, and no authoritative source publishes one number for it. Rather than guess, SiteCalc asks for the tons per cubic yard your supplier quotes. Compacted road base does have a published range, which the app shows.

Why is my bag count higher than the bag's label suggests?

SiteCalc always rounds bags up, since 33.3 bags means buying 34 or coming up short. Some manufacturers' examples round to the nearest bag instead.

How do I move my jobs to a new iPhone?

Saved jobs are part of Pro, and so is moving them: in Settings, export a backup and save the file somewhere the new phone can reach, such as iCloud Drive, then choose Restore from backup in Settings on the new iPhone.

Templates

A template file won't open, or something in it isn't working.

Write to us with the template's name, the program you opened it in, such as Google Sheets, Excel, Word or Google Docs, and what happened. Downloads themselves are handled by Etsy, so if you can't reach the file at all, your Etsy purchases page is the place to start.

Your data

Can you recover my entries?

We can't, because they never reach us. Everything you enter in our apps is stored on your iPhone, which keeps it private and means we have no copy to restore. The privacy policy sets out exactly what each app keeps and where.

Is there an Android version?

Our apps are coming to iPhone first, and we'd rather not promise an Android date we haven't set.
