Stubwise privacy policy
Effective 11 October 2026, Stubwise for iPhone, by Slatewise LLC
| Account with us | None |
|---|---|
| Stays on your device | Hours, pay, jobs, rates and pay-stub amounts; Notes you write; Reminder times; Settings and preferences |
| Who receives anything | RevenueCat: your purchase record and an anonymous app user ID, and device model, system and app version, language and IP address; Slatewise: feedback you choose to send us: your message, an email address if you give one, and app details if you leave them switched on |
| Services involved | Apple, RevenueCat, Slatewise |
| Analytics | No analytics SDK and no usage tracking. RevenueCat gives us aggregate subscription reports (for example, how many trials become subscriptions), which is why the App Store label lists Purchases > Analytics. |
| Advertising | None |
| Tracking across other companies' apps and websites | No |
| Backups | Included in your iPhone's iCloud or computer backup |
Stubwise has no account, no ads, no analytics SDK and no usage tracking. The hours and pay you log stay on your iPhone. The only information that leaves it is the record of a purchase, and any feedback you choose to send us.
What stays on your iPhone
Everything you enter is stored in the app's own storage on your iPhone: your jobs, hourly rates and overtime settings, your clock-ins, shifts, breaks, tips and notes, any pay stub amounts you type into the Paycheck Check, and your reminder times and other preferences. None of it is sent to us or to anyone else; if you send us feedback, we receive only the message you write. Pay and overtime are worked out on the phone itself, and since we never receive this information, we can't read it, recover it or delete it for you; it's yours to manage on your device.
Backups
Like most app data, this information is included in your iPhone's backup, whether that's iCloud Backup or a backup to a computer, depending on how your iPhone is set up. Those backups are made and kept by Apple or by your own computer, not by us. The app doesn't sync between devices, but restoring a backup onto a new iPhone brings your hours with you.
Reminders and exports
Shift reminders are local notifications, scheduled and delivered on your iPhone, and their contents stay on your iPhone, with no notification server in between. When you export a timesheet, the file is made on your iPhone and goes only where you send or save it through the share sheet.
Purchases and subscriptions
Paid features are sold as in-app purchases through the App Store, and Apple takes the payment, so we never receive your name, your card, your billing address or your Apple Account. To check a purchase and unlock the paid features, the app uses RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc.), which receives the following:
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| A random, anonymous app user ID that the app creates. It isn't your name, your email or your Apple Account, and it isn't the advertising identifier. | To know which purchases belong to this installation, and to restore them. |
| Your purchase history for this app: the App Store transaction and receipt, the product, its price and currency, and dates such as when a trial started, renewed or was cancelled. | To confirm the purchase with Apple, unlock what you paid for, prevent fraud, and show us subscription reports, such as how many trials turn into subscriptions. |
| Basic technical details: device model, iOS version, app version, language, storefront and currency, and the IP address your connection comes from. | Any request over the internet carries these, and they're needed to connect and validate the purchase. |
RevenueCat never receives anything you type into the app. It processes this information on our behalf in the United States, and its own practices are described in the RevenueCat privacy policy. Apple's handling of your purchase is covered by Apple's privacy policy.
Keeping and deleting
- On your iPhone: deleting the app deletes its data. Copies inside earlier backups remain until those backups are deleted, which you control in your iPhone or iCloud settings.
- At RevenueCat: purchase records are kept while they're needed to provide Premium, restore purchases, and keep our legal, tax and accounting records. You can ask us to delete them. Since they aren't linked to your name, we may ask for a detail from your Apple receipt, such as the order ID, so we can find them.
- At Apple: Apple keeps its own record of your purchases under its own policies.
This website
The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which handles standard request information, such as your IP address, your browser type and the page you asked for, in order to deliver and protect the site, and may keep it in logs for security and reliability. We don't use that information to identify you.
We count visits to this website with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which Cloudflare provides as the site's host. A small script from Cloudflare reports which page was viewed, the page that linked to it and how quickly it loaded, and Cloudflare works out the visitor's country; what reaches us is only totals, such as how many people looked at a page this week and where they came from. It sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser, and Cloudflare says it doesn't use your IP address, your browser's details or anything else to single you out; Cloudflare's privacy policy covers how it handles that data. Apart from Gumroad's checkout on the shop pages (see Buying from our shop), it's the one script on our public pages, and it counts visits to the website only, so it has nothing to do with our apps, which contain no analytics SDK at all.
The one cookie this site sets itself is a sign-in cookie on a private page we use to manage it, which visitors never see. On the shop pages, Gumroad may set cookies of its own, as Buying from our shop explains.
When you send us feedback
Each of our apps and templates, and this website, has a way to tell us what you think: a short form in the app, or the feedback page here. Nothing is sent until you press Send, and what we receive is what the form shows you: your message, which product it's about, the kind of message you chose, and your email address if you'd like us to answer. In an app, the form can also include a few app details (the app's version, your phone's model and system version, your language setting, and which screen you were on), and it shows you those before you send, with a switch to leave them out. There's no account, and nothing that identifies your phone.
Messages are kept in a database Cloudflare runs for us, apart from everything else, and only we read them. We use them to fix what's broken and to decide what to make next, and we use your email address only to answer that message. To keep the form from being flooded, we also keep a scrambled form of your IP address, made with a one-way hash and a key that changes every day, so it can't be turned back into your address or matched from one day to the next. We erase the hashed address after 7 days. The messages themselves are deleted after a year, or sooner if you ask; write to privacy@slatewisestudio.com with the reference the form gave you, and we'll find it.
Please don't put pay stubs, passwords or anything sensitive in a message. Describing what happened is always enough.
When you email us
If you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to send, and we use it only to answer you. We keep that correspondence for as long as we need it to help you and to keep ordinary business records, and then delete it. Please don't send pay stubs or other sensitive documents; describing the problem is enough.
What we don't do
- We don't show ads, and our apps contain no advertising or analytics SDK.
- We don't track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we don't use the advertising identifier.
- We don't sell or share your personal information, and we don't use it for targeted advertising.
- We don't collect your location, contacts, health information or browsing history.
Children
Our apps are tools for working adults and aren't directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children, and if you believe a child has sent us some, write to us and we'll delete it.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for access to, a copy of, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to complain to a data protection authority. We'll honour those requests wherever the law gives you these rights, and we won't treat you differently for making one. Write to privacy@slatewisestudio.com. In practice, the only personal information we hold is the purchase record at RevenueCat, the order details Gumroad passes us when you buy from our shop, any emails you've sent us, and any feedback you've sent us.
If you're in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, we rely on the performance of our contract with you to check purchases and provide paid features, and on our legitimate interests to prevent fraud, to understand how many people subscribe, and to read and answer your feedback and keep the form free of abuse. Information handled by RevenueCat or Gumroad is processed in the United States, and Cloudflare may store and process feedback in the United States and the other countries where it runs its network.
Security
What you keep in our apps is protected by your iPhone's own security, such as your passcode and data protection, and our apps talk to RevenueCat, and send feedback to us, only over encrypted connections. Each service provider we use, RevenueCat included, is bound to protect your information at least as well as this policy does. No system is perfectly secure, so we collect as little as we can.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and its effective date. If a change affects what an app collects, such as adding a new service, we'll say so in that app's update notes before it takes effect and update its privacy details on the App Store.
