Loafsona privacy policy

Loafsona has no account, no ads, no analytics SDK and no usage tracking. Your photos never leave your iPhone unless you share a card yourself, we don't analyze anyone's face, and the only information that leaves the phone is the record of a purchase.

Your photos

When you take a photo in Loafsona, it's resized on your iPhone and checked, on your iPhone, by Apple's built-in Vision framework, which reports only whether there's a face-shaped area in the picture and where it is. The app uses that to decide between a person's bread and a no-face result, and to center the optional photo on your share card. Nothing about how anyone looks is measured, stored or used: the bread itself is drawn at random.

The photo is kept in the app's temporary cache for the current reading and deleted when you take the next one. It's never uploaded, never saved to your photo library by the app, and never stored in your Bread Box. We don't create, collect or keep face geometry, face templates or any other biometric identifier.

If you choose to put your photo on a share card and share it, the card goes wherever you send it through your iPhone's share sheet. That's you sharing your own picture, and we don't receive a copy.

What stays on your iPhone

Your Bread Box (which bread each reading gave, any name you typed and the date), your vibe-check answers and your settings are stored on your iPhone only. None of it is sent to us, and since we never receive it, we can't see it, recover it or delete it for you.

Backups

Like most app data, your Bread Box and settings are included in your iPhone's backup, whether that's iCloud Backup or a backup to a computer, depending on how your iPhone is set up. Those backups are made and kept by Apple or by your own computer, not by us. Photos aren't included, since the app deletes each one when you take the next.

Purchases

Paid features are sold as in-app purchases through the App Store, and Apple takes the payment, so we never receive your name, your card, your billing address or your Apple Account. To check a purchase and unlock the paid features, the app uses RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc.), which receives the following:

RevenueCat never receives anything you type into the app. It processes this information on our behalf in the United States, and its own practices are described in the RevenueCat privacy policy. Apple's handling of your purchase is covered by Apple's privacy policy.

What we don't do

• Upload or store your photos.
• Analyze faces, or infer age, gender, ethnicity or anything else about anyone. The result is random.
• Show ads or use the advertising identifier.
• Use an analytics SDK or a crash-reporting service. RevenueCat gives us aggregate purchase reports, such as how many people bought each pack, which is why the App Store label lists Purchases under Analytics.
• Track you across other companies' apps or websites.
• Sell or share personal information.

Children

Loafsona is a general-audience entertainment app. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Keeping and deleting

• On your iPhone: deleting the app deletes its data. Copies inside earlier backups remain until those backups are deleted, which you control in your iPhone or iCloud settings.
• At RevenueCat: purchase records are kept while they're needed to provide what you bought, restore purchases, and keep our legal, tax and accounting records. You can ask us to delete them. Since they aren't linked to your name, we may ask for a detail from your Apple receipt, such as the order ID, so we can find them.
• At Apple: Apple keeps its own record of your purchases under its own policies.

People in Illinois, Texas, Washington, California, the EU, the UK and elsewhere have specific rights over biometric and personal data. Loafsona collects neither, but you're always welcome to ask us about it.

This website

The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which handles standard request information, such as your IP address, your browser type and the page you asked for, in order to deliver and protect the site, and may keep it in logs for security and reliability. We don't use that information to identify you.

We count visits to this website with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which Cloudflare provides as the site's host. A small script from Cloudflare reports which page was viewed, the page that linked to it and how quickly it loaded, and Cloudflare works out the visitor's country; what reaches us is only totals, such as how many people looked at a page this week and where they came from. It sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser, and Cloudflare says it doesn't use your IP address, your browser's details or anything else to single you out; Cloudflare's privacy policy covers how it handles that data. It's the only script on our public pages, and it counts visits to the website only, so it has nothing to do with our apps, which contain no analytics SDK at all.

The only cookie on this site is a sign-in cookie on a private page we use to manage it, which visitors never see.

When you email us

If you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to send, and we use it only to answer you. We keep that correspondence for as long as we need it to help you and to keep ordinary business records, and then delete it. Please don't send pay stubs or other sensitive documents; describing the problem is enough.

What we don't do

• We don't show ads, and our apps contain no advertising or analytics SDK.
• We don't track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we don't use the advertising identifier.
• We don't sell or share your personal information, and we don't use it for targeted advertising.
• We don't collect your location, contacts, health information or browsing history.

Children

Our apps are tools for working adults and aren't directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children, and if you believe a child has sent us some, write to us and we'll delete it.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for access to, a copy of, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to complain to a data protection authority. We'll honour those requests wherever the law gives you these rights, and we won't treat you differently for making one. Write to privacy@slatewisestudio.com. In practice, the only personal information we hold is the purchase record at RevenueCat and any emails you've sent us.

If you're in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, we rely on the performance of our contract with you to check purchases and provide paid features, and on our legitimate interests to prevent fraud and to understand how many people subscribe. Information handled by RevenueCat is processed in the United States.

Security

What you keep in our apps is protected by your iPhone's own security, such as your passcode and data protection, and our apps talk to RevenueCat only over encrypted connections. Each service provider we use, RevenueCat included, is bound to protect your information at least as well as this policy does. No system is perfectly secure, which is one more reason we collect as little as we can.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update this page and its effective date. If a change affects what an app collects, such as adding a new service, we'll say so in that app's update notes before it takes effect and update its privacy details on the App Store.
